A collection of serendipitous discoveries in a narrative book form: documenting the process of printmaking—from darkroom chemical development of imagery to the mechanical engineering of the book.
Through the analysis, intervention and amplification of serendipity, it aims to make two points, firstly, the content of the book is to suggest that design is not a thought experiment in front of a glowing screen, but it is a physical process to generate and accumulate ideas, it calls for the awareness that elevates serendipitous discovery onto a major strategy rather than a chance encounter. Secondly, serendipitous ideas are used throughout the book, making it a demonstration of the possibilities of such strategy.
